SMP stands for Scalp Micropigmentation, a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves depositing tiny dots of pigment into the scalp to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles. It creates the illusion of a shaved head, denser hair, or restores a hairline. It is safe when done by trained professionals using sterile tools and pigments.
A trained practitioner uses microneedles to implant pigment into the scalp. The pigment is matched to the patient’s hair color and skin tone. Each dot mimics the look of a tiny hair follicle.
SMP creates immediate results with no downtime. Without surgery, there is no scarring. Result under good hands can last 4–6 years with occasional touch-ups.
In 2019 the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS ) described SMP, FUE and FUT as the Triple Crown in Hair Loss Remedies.
Since 2014 we have developed our own SMP into a medical-grade service, performed under local anesthesia in an Aseptic Area. The entitle procedure is supervised by a Medical Practitioner.
Although many Hair Dressors and Tattoo Artists also provide SMP to clients, their results and technique are totally different from ours. Unlike usual kinds of tattoo, our SMP is performed under local anesthesia. Without pain the SMP ink can be injected into the musch deeper dermal layers of the scalp, so that the ink can be retained for many years giving a long lasting covering effect.
Baldness appears when there is reflection of light from the scalp. For long, hair fibres are sprinkled on the scalp to reduce such reflection. The drawback of such however was that the fibres would be washed away by rain and sweat, and the daily use in a long run would cost a fortune.
The goal of SMP is to improve the appearance of people suffered from hair loss. For those who use hair fibre on a daily basis, the background darker scalp color would lessen the amount required for coverage.
