Back in the Game — A Soccer Coach’s Hair Comeback

My Family History of Hair Loss

Last Updated: 6 Nov 2025

Hair loss runs in my family, so I always knew it might catch up with me. As a soccer coach, how I look matters — not just to me, but also to the players and parents I work with. I started losing hair around the age of 25. It was gradual at first, but over time, my hairline receded quite noticeably.

I tried using Minoxidil, and while it helped a little, it just wasn’t enough to bring my hairline back. That’s when I started looking for something more permanent.

My Decison for a Hair Transplant

After doing plenty of research and speaking with professionals, I decided to go with FUT ( Follicular Unit Transplantation ). From the very beginning, I felt confident in the medical team as the whole consultation was clear, professional, and I knew exactly what to expect.

The procedure

I was considered a Norwood  Class IVa candidate. My Follicular Unit Density was estimated to be 85 FU per sq.cm, and the Hair to Follicular Unit Ratio   1.8 : 1. By FUT 2,826 grafts or 5,062 Hairs were transplanted.

The surgery itself went smoothly, and the recovery was much easier than I expected. One of my biggest concerns was whether I’d still be able to play soccer — especially heading the ball. To my surprise, the transplanted hairs felt secure just one week after the procedure. That really reassured me — my fears were completely unnecessary.

Final Thought

Now that my hairline has been restored, I feel like myself again. It’s incredible how something like this can boost your confidence. I’m back on the field, coaching, training, and yes — even heading the ball — and my hair looks better than it has in years.. It wasn’t just about looks — it brought back my confidence, my energy, and a part of myself I thought I had lost.
