SMP stands for Scalp Micropigmentation, a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves depositing tiny dots of pigment into the scalp to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles. It creates the illusion of a shaved head, denser hair, or restores a hairline. It is safe when done by trained professionals using sterile tools and pigments.
A trained practitioner uses microneedles to implant pigment into the scalp. The pigment is matched to the patient’s hair color and skin tone. Each dot mimics the look of a tiny hair follicle.
SMP creates immediate results with no downtime. Without surgery, there is no scarring. Result under good hands can last 4–6 years with occasional touch-ups.
In 2019 the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS ) described SMP, FUE and FUT as the Triple Crown in Hair Loss Remedies.

SMP is suitable as an alternative to hair transplant for most types of hair loss in men and women. SMP can also be used to enhance the result of hair transplant, and to conceal any types of scalp scars. There are many good candidates for SMP:
SMP is a good option
Men or women with thinning hair – to make hair appear fuller, especially men who want to shave their head with the appearance of a cool cut; Women with thinning hair are great candidates for this type of procedure.
People with complete baldness – to give the appearance of a closely shaved scalp.
Patients with scars – especially from FUT hair transplants or injury, to camouflage the scar.
Those not suitable or not want to have hair transplant – such as patients with limited donor hair, underlying autoimmune diseases like alopecia areata;
People with scalp acne or other skin sensitives – like psoriasis should avoid getting SMP during a breakout or flare-up, as it will be difficult to apply pigment to the inflamed areas..
Those prone to developing keloids – may also not be a good candidate for SMP.
Baldness appears when there is reflection of light from the scalp. For long hair fibres are sprinkled on the scalp to reduce such reflection. The drawback of such however was that the fibres would be washed away by rain and sweat, and the daily use in a long run would cost a fortune.

Although many Hair Dressors and Tattoo Artists also provide SMP to clients, their results and technique are totally different from ours. Unlike usual kinds of tattoo, our SMP is performed under local anesthesia. Without pain the SMP ink can be injected into the musch deeper dermal layers of the scalp, so that the ink can be retained for many years giving a long lasting covering effect.
SMP is not tattoo, and is safe only when done by trained professionals using sterile tools and specially prepared SMP-pigments.
